* Ackermann's February 1946 essay argued Germany's conditions (advanced industry, working-class majority, anti-fascist consensus) required a different route than October Russia: broad democratic fronts, gradual transformation in the Soviet zone.
* The line was quietly dropped by 1949-50 as Cold War polarization hardened and the SED stalinized — Ackermann self-criticized; the GDR instead became the most Soviet-aligned of the satellite states.
