'''Jiang Qing''' was the [[ultra-leftist]] wife of [[Mao Zedong]]. As a member of the Politburo of the [[Communist Party of China]], she played a major role in the [[Cultural Revolution]].

After Mao's death, [[Hua Guofeng]] took power, ending the [[Cultural Revolution]] with the arrest, trial and conviction of Jiang Qing and her ultra-left associates (the [[Gang of Four]]) for corruption. With Jiang Qing removed, the centrist Hua Guofeng gave way to [[Deng Xiaoping]] taking power. Jiang Qing was driven mad by the [[Reform and Opening Up]] and committed suicide in prison.
