MAGA Communism

MAGA Communism is a political strategy articulated by Haz Al-Din (Infrared) and popularized in 2022 together with Jackson Hinkle. It proposes the consolidation of the MAGA popular base — the patriotic American working class — away from "false consciousness" and toward communism, rather than writing that base off as irredeemably reactionary.

Core theses

• The American people, not an abstract cosmopolitan subject, are the vehicle of socialism in America; communism must be indigenous to the American political tradition.
• The principal contradiction is between the American people and the parasitic financial-intelligence oligarchy that rules both establishment parties.
• The left's contempt for the patriotic working class ("deplorables") has ceded it to demagogues; a genuine communist movement must win it by taking its grievances seriously — deindustrialization, the Housing crisis, endless war, cultural degradation.
• "MAGA" is treated as a populist form whose content can be contested: communists aim to give it class content.

Organization

The strategy found organizational expression in the American Communist Party (ACP), founded July 2024, with Haz Al-Din as Executive Chairman. The ACP positions itself as patriotic socialism, anti-imperialist, and opposed to both neoliberal Democrats and "woke" identity-substitution for class politics.

Reception

Established left organizations have attacked MAGA Communism as red-brown entryism; liberal media (e.g., VICE) covered it as a fringe fusion of Trumpism and Stalinism. Its proponents answer that every successful national revolution fused patriotism with social revolution — citing the patriotic fronts of Vietnam, China, and Korea.
