Vampire economy
""The Vampire Economy" (Günther Reimann, 1939) is the book everyone cites to prove "Nazis hated capitalism" — and it's a myth, as Haz put it in debate.
The debate
From the ACP WAR | THOMAS MASSIE LOSES stream, an opponent claimed the Germans "waged a crusade against global capitalism":
> "This is the vampire economy myth. This is not true. This is something that was debunked... The Reichsmarks and the entire German military-industrial complex was based in debt, and the only way the debt could be paid off was from the resources plundered from Eastern Europe."
The substance
The "anti-capitalist Nazi" reading cherry-picks business complaints from Reimann while ignoring what actually happened: privatized state holdings ("reprivatization" was coined for Nazi Germany), guaranteed profits, crushed labor, and rearmament financed by Mefo-bill debt serviced through planned plunder. Nazism wasn't anti-capitalism — it was capitalism in emergency command form: capital's command preserved, its risks socialized, its contradictions exported into war (Gottfried Feder, Red-Fascism).
