Narodniks
The Narodniks appear in Haz's theory of the student as seismograph.
On Iran's internal tremors:
> "In Russia, same thing with the Narodniks. Narodism arose because they felt a tremor — there's a social implosion about to happen with the rise of Russian peasant subjectivity. It's always the students that feel the tremor first, because they're at the center... And always the response by students takes the form of the negation of the authorities of the institutions they themselves are based at. Russian Narodnik against the Russian university authorities; Tehran, same with the universities under the Shah; China, same with the universities in Beijing."
The theory
Student radicalism is a symptom, not a cause: students sit at the nerve-center where subterranean social shifts register first. The form is pure negation of one's own institution — which explains both its energy and its limits. Negation needs content from the real social movement rising beneath it (Class, MAGA Communism).
