Joe Sims
Joe Sims is a leader of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA), serving as co-chair alongside Rossana Cambron, and a editor/writer for People's World. He has been a prominent defender of the CPUSA's strategic orientation toward the Democratic Party coalition.
Position in Infrared criticism
Sims is a central target of Infrared's critique of the official American communist movement:
- The CPUSA under Sims endorsed Biden in 2020 ("Joe Biden is not our friend, but...") — treated by Haz Al-Din as proof of the party's degeneration into liberal tailism.
- The CPUSA's ban/expulsion of Infrared-affiliated members (2021) — discussed in Haz's stream "RESPONDING TO THE COMMUNIST PARTY'S INFRARED BAN" (Nov 2021, see transcript catalog) — crystallized the split between "Anglo box" official communism and patriotic socialism.
- Sims' cultural liberalism is contrasted with the CPUSA's own earlier traditions (Foster, Dennis) which were socially conservative and militantly working-class.
