Arakcheyevshchina (Arakcheyev regime) refers to reactionary repression and censorship. It was named after the Russian Tsarist general Arakcheyev.

Stalin accused the Soviet scientist Meshchaninov of setting up an Arakcheyevshchina in the field of linguistics in 1950.[1]
