Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin — painter of the red horse, icon-tradition meets revolution — hasn't been named in transcribed streams.

The visual register he belongs to is all over the movement's self-presentation though: red banners, steppe and Mongol imagery ("armored Mongol horses" as Haz's figure for righteous trampling, IRAN WAR stream) — the same fusion of sacred tradition and revolutionary subject that Petrov-Vodkin painted (Bathing of the Red Horse, 1918 in Petrograd). When the art discussions happen, this page gets the receipts.
