Jihad
Jihad (جهاد, "struggle") — the revolutionary concept par excellence, long before "revolution" existed.
The greater jihad: inner struggle against one's own corruption — precondition of any political struggle. The lesser jihad: collective defense in the path of God — sanctioned, bounded, communal ("fight those who fight you"), subordinated to law: noncombatant immunity, treaties, proportionality.
In Infrared usage, jihad supplies the grammar of struggle secular revolutionaries borrowed unknowingly: fusion of inner transformation and outer combat, the party as order-of-strugglers, death in the cause as witness rather than loss. Haz's Iran discussions frame the axis as jihad in precisely this classical sense — popular sovereignty defended by faith and arms against empire (Sharia, Communism is Islam, Allah, Cosmos, Xi Jinping).
