Jihad
Jihad (جهاد, "struggle/striving") — in Infrared's reading, the revolutionary concept par excellence, long before the word "revolution" existed.
The concept
- The greater jihad: the inner struggle against one's own corruption — the precondition of any political struggle.
- The lesser jihad: collective defense and struggle in the path of God — sanctioned, bounded, communal. Not "holy war" in the crusader sense but the obligation of the community to resist oppression ("fight those who fight you").
- Classical doctrine subordinates war to law: noncombatant immunity, treaties, proportionality — order even in struggle.
Infrared's usage
Jihad supplies the grammar of struggle that secular revolutionaries borrowed without knowing: the fusion of inner transformation and outer combat, the party as order-of-strugglers, death in the cause as witness rather than loss. The Allah, Cosmos, Xi Jinping anthem's imagery ("the blade is swift and horses tread") draws on this register; Haz's discussions of Iran's resistance frame the axis as jihad in precisely this classical sense — popular sovereignty defended by faith and arms against the empire (Sharia, Communism is Islam).
