Richard Milhous Nixon

From InfraWiki

Nixon — the benchmark of a vanished veneer.

On Trump and the Democrats both instrumentalizing the Constitution ("how do we get a loophole around this"):

> "You could say that was true since FDR — you could say that's FDR, that's Richard Nixon. And I'm like, yeah, but it was never so explicit. There was this veneer back then — this aestheticization of American democracy into an ideology, which covered up that discrepancy for a long time. But precisely that ideology has collapsed."

Nixon-era constitutional evasion happened under an operative democratic ideology; today the ideology itself is dead, leaving raw power management without legitimation — the condition Infrared's whole strategy addresses (New Deal, MAGA Communism).
